Nesin Memorial Scholarship Recital Set

MONTICELLO – On Friday, October 30, 2009 , the “Honorable Eugene D. Nesin Memorial Scholarship” Committee will host a special fundraising recital in the Arnold Packer Hughs Auditorium at Monticello High School at 7:30 p.m . This recital will feature current and past faculty members, Monticello High School Alumni performers and this year’s scholarship recipients.
Eugene Nesin was a strong community advocate. He was an active member of the Monticello Kiwanis Club, the Holiday Mountain Ski Patrol, past Town of Thompson Town Council Member , and he served over 33 years as a member of the Monticello Central School District Board of Education until his untimely death last February. Eugene was an avid supporter of the arts and especially arts education. The music selections highlighted in this recital displays the diverse representation of the styles of music Eugene loved. Jazz, Classical, Contemporary and Broadway show tunes will be presented throughout this special event.
Proceeds from the recital will help provide funds for students pursuing continuing arts based studies. Performers in the recital have volunteered their time and talents to assist in this worthy cause. Scheduled to perform are David Trombley, Nancy Wegryzn, Christopher Bradshaw, Lori James, Amy Philips, Ann Trombley, Mike Mingo, Aaron Rovitz and many others who share Eugene ’s passion for the arts.
The suggested ticket donation price is $15.00 and can be reserved by calling (845) 794-6013. Tickets are also available at the door. In addition, donations of any amount are welcomed by sending your contribution check, payable to the Eugene Nesin Memorial Scholarship Fund, to The “Honorable Eugene Nesin Memorial Scholarship,” c/o Mrs. Ellen Nesin, 85 Rock Ridge Drive, Monticello, New York 12701.
Your attendance at this recital as well as your donation and support will help to keep Eugene’s spirit of the arts alive for future generations.
