[SHANDELEE] – On Saturday, August 8, The Shandelee Music Festival will present a solo piano concert featuring 2002 alumnus Berenika Zakrzewski. Since attending the Festival in 2002, Zakrzewski’s performing career has taken her all around the globe, appearing in the world’s most prestigious concert halls. She will be coming back to Shandelee directly from the Randolph Duke Estate in the Hollywood Hills, where she where she is being featured as a guest artist for InStyle Magazine.
She has had the honor of being presented to Queen Elizabeth II, performing in a gala concert at the House of Commons, performing at the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa and performing for the 40th Anniversary of the Fulbright Commission. She also has performed for Philip Glass, honoring him at the Fulbright Lifetime Achievement Awards, held at the Andrew W.Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC.
Zakrzewski’s performances have been widely broadcast on television and radio, appearing on Bravo!, the CBC, CityTV, NPR, MDR Germany, WCQS and the BBC. She was a featured performer on New York radio station WQXR’s McGraw Hill Young Artist Showcase, hosted by Robert Sherman. She was also London station Classic FM’s “Hot Property” on Late Nite Lisa – featuring the best young performers in classical music today.
Zakrzewski is the recipient of the prestigious Leonard Bernstein Scholarship at Harvard, the Arthur W. Foote prize of the historic Harvard Music Association, the John Knowle’s Paine Fellowship and the Canada Council for the Arts Award.
In Shandelee, Zakrzewski will be performing works by Beethoven, Chopin, Schubert and Philip Glass.
