Dear Twice Divorced,

I’m a conservative Christian lady who can’t figure out whose side to be on for the Republican primary.

I watch the Fox News station a lot, but lots of people say I can’t believe everything they say.

Do news stations really make up stories? If so, I’d think the other side liberal folks would too, right?

How can I separate real stuff from make believe so I can make a good choice who to support?

And well you should be! Cautious that is.

American politics is degenerating into an “our side at any cost” modus operandi. In my opinion Fox News has loomed large in this degradation.

I suggest that you do a net search for “Fox apologies” or “Fox lies” or any number of other phraseologies, and you will be amazed at the long lists that come up. While I suspect there are liberal media outlets that invent some of their news, I am not specifically aware of them.

In order to separate the “real stuff from the make believe” I strongly suggest that you use a variety of news sources including newspapers – avoiding the tabloids – and come to your own conclusions.

Even though our political philosophies differ, I can recommend a good source of conservative information.  It is Morning Joe on MSNBC.

Yes, this network is of the progressive persuasion however Morning Joe is hosted by Joe Scarborough, an intelligent conservative former congressman whose positions are well considered and who has no need of the theatrics provided by the likes of  Beck, O’Reilly or Limbaugh (all of whom are believed to be among the most creative lie mongers in media today), and who needs no lies to keep his ratings up. His guests are knowledgeable, interesting and always provide food for thought. Be prepared, though, on occasion Joe’s ego can inflate to the point of being really irritating.

I truly hope you will search out alternate information sources and even listen to some of the liberal commentators, like Rachel Maddow – on MSNBC each weeknight at 9 p.m. – to get a different perspective on what is going on in our world.
