CALLICOON, NY – This year’s Sullivan County International Pageant was hosted by the Villa Roma Resort on Saturday, April 23 in front of over 250 people.
Stacey Minchin, 2011 Miss New York International, emceed the event, which had as its them “Go Red for Women,” which encourages awareness of women and heart disease. Donations of $5 for every contestant resulted in a $160 donation to The American Heart Association.
The show kicked off shortly after 4:00 p.m. with a colorful opening number choreographed to the song “Firework.”
Thirty-one contestants competed for five different titles: Young Miss Sullivan County (5-8 years old), Miss Sullivan County Pre-Teen (9-12 years old), Miss Teen Sullivan County International (13-18 years old), Miss Sullivan County International (19-29 years old) and Mrs. Sullivan County International (21-56 years old & married).
Competition events included a private interview, casual wear, fitness wear, evening wear and onstage questions.
Each Teen, Miss and Mrs. contestant presented a platform that they would be promoting throughout their reign. The winners’ platforms include raising awareness and finding a cure for Neurofibromatosis, supporting the Hudson Valley Chapter of Child Help: prevention and treatment of children who are victims of child abuse, and infertility awareness.
The winners will also promote these platforms when they compete in the New York International Pageant on October 1.
