County Manager Removes Travel Restrictions (With Precautions) – State of Emergency Will be Rescinded Effective 5:00 a.m. Monday, August 29 – 911 Emergency Service Restored

MONTICELLO, NY (August 28, 2011) – Sullivan County Manager David P. Fanslau has removed restrictions on travel in Sullivan, with precautions, and the Declaration of a State of Emergency for Sullivan County will be rescinded effective at 5:00 AM on Monday, August 29, 2011.
The County of Sullivan is continuing communications with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service to monitor any continuing impacts from Hurricane Irene.
"I have declared the state of emergency in Sullivan County to ensure the safety of the county residents," said County Manager David P. Fanslau.
"At this time travel is no longer restricted; however, motorists should use extreme caution and obey all road closure signs. Do not drive through flood waters." Sullivan County’s Emergency Operation Center will be close at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2011.
“Please check the Sullivan County website http://www.co.sullivan.ny.us for updates and if power is lost please tune into the local radio stations for regular updates. The power companies have crews dispatched throughout Sullivan County restoring service.
“Verizon has restored Sullivan County’s 911 Emergency Telephone Service. Residents may reliably dial 911 in the event of an emergency, and the Sheriff’s Office emergency telephone system is back online as well. I want to thank all of the local volunteer emergency responders for staffing the local Fire Departments during the 911 service disruption.
“All Sullivan County offices will open for regularly scheduled hours on Monday, August 29, 2011," said Fanslau.
