Long Island Flyrodders Catskills Stream Clean – 4/20/13
April 11, 2013 by The Catskill Chronicle
LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY (April 11, 2013) – On Saturday, April 20 the Long Island Flyrodders (LIFR), with the assistance of over 35 Long Island Cub Scouts and local Sullivan County Cub Scouts, will hold their annual Stream Clean
program on the Willowemoc Creek from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
This program was initiated 10 years ago by this Long Island NY fly fishing organization to give back to the river, fish and community that has provided such great pleasure, and to keep it alive for others to enjoy.
LIFR Stream Clean Committee Chairman, Paul McCain commented “this program has grown from a few individuals to now over 60 participants from Long Island and those from the local area. This year we have over doubled our LI scout participation, and with Roscoe and Livingston Manor scouts joining in, it only gets better. Our Stream Clean has turned into a program larger than we ever imagined, and with great results. It is a great day to get to get reacquainted with the river and the community.”
The event is open to everyone. Interested individuals and groups are welcome to join in. Assemble at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center, 1031 Old Route 17,
Livingston Manor, NY at 8:15 a.m. that day for bags and area assignments. Boots are recommended; bags will be provided.
Participants will pick up debris and litter along the river and banks that has accumulated over the winter. When the bags are full, they are to be put along the roadside along Old Route 17 by 12:30 p.m. for pick up. After the clean up, all participants are welcome to attend a BBQ lunch (no charge) back at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center on the upper field adjacent to the new building. This free BBQ is also provided by the LIFR.
