To the editor:
Great praise for the Monticello Central School District Board of Education, its members collectively, and the leadership of Board President Susan Purcell and Superintendent of Schools Daniel Teplesky.
The Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools responded affirmatively to the concerns of parents, by deciding not to redraw the boundary lines for the 2012-2013 school year.
Rather, the Board of Education will establish committees to work through the enrollment issues in the elementary schools to provide parents with the ability to have input, be informed, and to make an informed and educated decision for the 2013-2014 school year, with sufficient time for both parents and the children that would be impacted to adjust, absorb, and potentially to make alternative decisions.
Thank you to the members of the Board of Education and to the Superintendent of Schools for listening to the concerns and taking proactive steps to address the needs of future school years.
