SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY (July 9, 2013) – Acting Sullivan County Manager Joshua A. Potosek has announced that Sullivan County’s Division of Planning
and Environmental Management has received a Rural Business Opportunity Grant (RBOG) from the USDA for $75,000.00 to fund the development of a Comprehensive Coordinated Transportation Plan for the County.
The funds will pay for a consultant to develop the Plan under the direction of the Planning Division and with the assistance of members of a Transportation Steering Committee.
It is anticipated that the development and subsequent implementation of a Comprehensive Coordinated Transportation Plan will benefit local citizens by providing more extensive services, lower costs and easier access to transportation. In addition, a coordinated plan can lead to lower operating costs for transportation providers.
The project builds upon an ongoing collaborative initiative led by the Sullivan County Long Term Care Council’s Subcommittee on Transportation.
If your agency, organization or business would like to join this collaborative effort, please contact Martha Scoppa at SULLIVAN NYCONNECTS in the County’s Office for the Aging at 845-807-0254.
