JEFFERSONVILLE, NY (November 27, 2012) – Colorfully lit fire trucks and ambulances, fire fighters decorated with holiday lights, sheriff’s deputies and State Police, boy scouts and girl scouts and
scout masters, Santas and reindeer, a rescue boat or two, and even a couple of beauty princesses paraded slowly down Main Street in Jeffersonville on Friday night, November 23 to the delight of hundreds of children, their parents, families and friends.
The occasion was the 18th Annual James Dworetsky Holiday Parade, held, traditionally the evening after Thanksgiving.
Dworetsky was a chief of the Youngsville Fire Department before his death in 1995, just one day after that year’s parade. His family and a dedicated committee of volunteers continues tirelessly to preserve the tradition.
As the fire trucks, businesses, floats and other assorted emergency vehicles make their way down Main Street, parade participants toss candy to the children, some of whom bring their own bags to carry home their stash.
Following the parade, children can meet up with Santa and get a photo taken, and everyone
