It kicked off on Saturday with a snow sculpture contest featuring the works of the Class of 2010 through the Class of 2013, as the seniors through freshman created artistic teenage expressions in the white stuff from the sky for the theme “Winter Sports”.
Later that evening the kids danced the night away at the Ice Carnival Dance and then watched spellbound as Nick Meyer and Christine Babich were crowned King and Queen of the 2010 Ice Carnival.
On Sunday, the carnival featured a host of events including snowshoeing, a dog sled demonstration, mule drawn wagon rides, the Traditional Parade of the 2010 Ice Carnival King and Queen and their court around the Walter Seeley Memorial Skating Rink, skating exhibitions by regionally and nationally ranked skaters, races on the ice for skaters of all ages and abilities, and then free skating for everybody who dared to take to the ice on skates.
Skaters of the Day were selected in four categories –
Junior Boys – Roan Gillingham
Senior Girls – Hannah Snyder
Senior Boys – Matthew Janik
In addition, there were seven races with skaters ranging in age from
adults to little kids.
The results are listed in order of placement, 1st through 3rd –
