Concert goers at ATP New York hang out by the pond at Kutsher’s.
Story and photos by Jason Dole
ATP New York is rocking the weekend away over at Kutsher’s in Monticello, NY. It’s a rock festival without the muddy fields and sun burn. It’s more like a weekend summer camp for nerdy music fans. There are no festivals like All Tomorrow’s Parties.
As I write this, it’s the wee hours between Saturday night and Sunday morning. My feet are sore and my ears are ringing. I saw 11 bands today, ranging from the lilting Celtic colored sax-and-violin tunes of Bridezilla to the impenetrable dark noise of Black Dice. I spoke to people from far-flung places like Vancouver, England, Australia, Denmark, and New Jersey.
We’re all having a lovely time at the coolest rock show of the year. Sorry you aren’t here, but don’t worry. I’m your man on the inside. I’ve got it covered. I’ll let you know all about it once the weekend is over.
For now, accept my greetings and check out my pictures from Kutsher’s. It’s just a few snapshots of life at ATP New York, as lived by the fans.
I’m in! My ticket is a cloth wrist band clamped together with a piece of metal. Good for the whole weekend.
Comedy returns to the Catskills. Eugene Mirman reads from the fake diary of Gordon Brown Friday night at ATP New York.

The ATP crowd is a global group. These young concertgoers come from Virginia by way of Washington, DC by way of Egypt.

Leave a shoe, take a shoe. Someone left this behind on the road in front of Kutsher’s.
Rule # 62 for Surviving All Tomorrow’s Parties: stay loose. Try getting a massage while you’re in the Starlight Ballroom.
Frankie Don is a regular performer at Kutsher’s. ATP organizers requested him for the lounge area during the festival. Frankie got a great reception from the hipsters and other concertgoers.
It’s Dead Meadow’s job to rock out.. It’s this guy’s job to clear the stage after they’re done.
