JEFFERSONVILLE – If the Lady Falcons of the Family School Foundation (0-13) came to the home field looking for their first win of the season, they came up a bit short as the Sullivan West Lady Bulldogs (8-3-3 overall, 2-1-1 league) defeated them 6-0 in Monday afternoon’s non-league varsity girl’s soccer match.
All the game’s scoring was posted in the first 40-minute half: Angela DiSanto off an assist from Sarah Shirdon (32:23), Hannah Feinman (25:13), Katrina Grady fired a shot between the goalie’s legs (18:59), Gabrielle Humleker on an assist by DiSanto off a corner kick (15:42), Adina Fadis on a shot off the crossbar (8:23), and a high lofting goal by Graby (6:21).

In a couple of class moves, Lady Bulldogs coach Mike Ellmauer sent in a lot of his bench during the second frame to keep the score down and after the match, played down the total number of shots on goal fired by his team.
“The second half was much better than the first,” said Scott MacDonald, coach of the Lady Falcons.

“In the second half, we had some mental breakdowns that they capitalized on…that’s the way the season has been going, every time we make mistakes we pay for it, but that’s on us.”
“We’ve got a couple of games left, [and] we’re looking for our first win,” added MacDonald.
To give folks an idea of the pressure his goalie Joanna Barrick faces, he said she averages about 20 saves per game. No matter how you figure it, that’s a lot of shots on goal.
“Things worked out pretty good,” said Ellmauer. “We knew Family had a couple of speedsters…we tinkered our lineup, and this was good test for us.”

Sullivan West split their goalies, as in the first frame Heather Puerschner posted one save, and in the second half Rachel Dickey was credited with two keeper saves.
