#2, the 2000 Kauneonga Lake Champion at speed on the local oval.
KAUNEONGA LAKE – Imagine a race car on steroids, and you get the idea of what a modified oval track racer looks like, low slung but deadly as they pack a 358 cubic inch displacement engine into a vehicle weighing in at least 2600 pounds.
According to the folks governing competition at Bethel Motor Speedway, the modified division “is intended for the more serious driver, while remaining affordable…maintaining IMCA rules as closely as possible for our track.”

A Chevy-based modified race car cuts a turn as it approaches the stands.
These rockets blast around the short asphalt oval, emitting fan-pleasing roars as they circle the short track until the checkered flag.
