LIVINGSTON MANOR – The Falcons of the Family Foundation School (2-8 overall, 1-2 league) were in the running right up until the third frame when the home team Livingston Manor Wildcats (2-4, 2-2) outpaced them by 11points (26-15) on the a 64-49 victory in Thursday’s OCIAA boy’s varsity league basketball ball.
The Wildcats were up 29-26 at the half, although the Family School fought back early in the second frame to tie it up 18-18 after the home team jumped out to one point lead (17-16) at the end of the first period.
Manor edged the Family School is all four frames: 17-16, 12-10, 26-15 and 9-8.
“I thought we played okay in the first half,” said Falcons coach Ted Towsley. “We came out flat, but we were able to claw our way back into the game, and after the first quarter, Livingston Manor was only up by one [point] and we were right back it in.”
Towsley said that in the second half, the Falcons were not able to stop the Wildcats offense; particularly in light of his team’s defense failing to execute their traps, “we got traps, but they passed the ball over the top…we weren’t able to stop their offensive game in the second half.”
“They killed us inside,” he added. “We didn’t have an answer for number 10 (Brandon Smith) and number 14 (Ken Fisk) did some damage as well…their point guard and number two got into the game, and hit a couple of key ‘three’s.”
“Hats off to coach Hicks and his team, it was a great win,” said Towsley.
Charlie Hicks, head cat of the Wildcats, summed up the game.
“It was a good game, pretty fast-paced. They pressed a little bit, but our transition offense seemed to be the key for us.”
“We worked our zone and the perimeter, and got the ball inside when we needed to down the stretch.”
The Family School placed two hoopsters into double digits: Isaac Moore (20 points), Jason Dabrowski (10 points).
Manor’s top shooters: Brandon Smith (17 points), Abbott Ross (13 points including three ‘3’s), Troy Correa (10 points), and Troy Edwards nailed a ‘3’.
Stats from the free throw line: LMCS 8/14 (57%), FFS 6/8 (75%).
