I never thought I’d say it, but a complete merger would benefit both communities. I had to move away to a larger area with all the benefits of a healthy tax base to gain some perspective on this issue. There is no sound, logical reason the two schools should not merge. Having lived and worked in communities with much larger schools (high schools with thousands, towns with 3 high schools, etc.), I know how those communities make it work. It’s not like Roscoe/Manor would go from small to large or even from small to medium. The schools would go from being tiny to being small. I lived in Roscoe for well over 20 years, but I’ve gained a perspective from living in other environments. I see the advantages that the kids back home do not have. The “devil” in me says, “No way should we ever merge with Manor!” The logical side of me admits, “Yes, it really would be best (but too bad it can’t be with Downsville!)”.
