Just the facts and a few good photos … and lots of imagination, heart and kindness … That’s how it all began, back at the start of June 2009.
That first week, The Catskill Chronicle received 18 visits to its pages. To date, The Catskill Chronicle has received over 573,000 visits.
In the beginning, The Catskill Chronicle consisted of a front page and two sections. Today we continue to post new stories to our front page, while our sections now run the gamut from political satire to updates from our governmental agencies to our very popular Tales from the Scrawny Gourmet and Elder Berries.
In addition, updates from the Chronicle can be heard on Thunder 102FM each Tuesday around 7:35 a.m. And visitors to our front page can now sign-up for a free subscription, follow us on Twitter and/or become a fan of our Facebook page.
Thanks go to the individuals and businesses that have created links to The Catskill Chronicle on their websites. We encourage our readers to visit the links we have created in return, which can be accessed from the right hand side of any page under the headings “Because We Can’t Do It Alone” and “Blogroll.”
We thank you for considering us a worthy community news source for Sullivan County and beyond, and for continuing to make our readership grow.
No one at the Chronicle receives any money for what they do. For all of us it has been a labor of love and in being able to share with the Catskill Mountain community, and beyond, a sense of just what makes it so special to live and work here.
As always, if you know of any event, meeting or other newsworthy item we should be covering let us know. Have a story you have written or a letter to the editor? Just send it to Catskill.Chronicle@yahoo.com. – Thanks.
If you have an event you would like us to post as either a story or calendar item, please send it, with all the details – who, what, when, where, why and how much – to the e-mail address listed above.
Please note, we need at least two weeks notice to give your event sufficient time to be posted. We cannot guarantee that anything received with less than two weeks notice will get published.

Just found this from a post on LinkedIn. Very nice and very refreshing!
Thanks so much, Pete. Appreciate the feedback. So glad you like what you see.
Nice that you can find people who are wiling to share news, stories and pictures without wanting something in return.
The art of giving is so important but in many countries it seems far lost.
Congratulations to the contributors and keep going for a long time.
It is so great to have THE CATSKILL CHRONICLE flourishing, a treasure trove of information, brimming with life! Thank you! Priscilla Bassett
Ahh, many, many thanks for your praise, Priscilla. You are a treasure trove of involvement yourself. Thank you so much for giving back to our community, everyday in every way.
Carol, I love your coverage of happenings.
The Murder Mystery was hilarious….what fun we all had.
One other question? Are you Hannah’s Mom. I think I see a family resemblance? If not, that is ok……I love Montana….one of my favorite states.
Carol and Leni – Thank you for talking to us about the Catskill Chroncile, and thank you for allowing the Sullivan County Public Libraries to use the Chronicle as a means for disseminating information about our libraries.
Alan
Hi, Leni and Carol, Peggy and Robert told me about your new venture and it’s great! A wonderful online newspaper which is accessible, informative and fun! Congratulations! Buff
Dear Leni and Carol,
What creativity and hard work has gone into The Catskill Chronicle. Congratulations, and GOOD LUCK! Peggy
Dear Carol,
What a breath of fresh air! I truly enjoyed my first visit to The Catskill Chronicle site. Congrats, and all the best to you and Leni!
Too,
Fina
P.S. Love the great photos (especially those butterflies!) — keep up the wonderful work!
Wow. Great site! Found out about you through Paulina’s new Catskill Wellness site.
Here is another new site you might want to add to your list

Cheers!
Dear Leni and Carol,
Thank for being a big part in our celebration for Rockland’s 200th year. Leni’s photos are inspiring and make me think that it may be worth doing another Johnny Darling Frolic next year. Carol your direction in the theater portion of our event left us all wanting more enactments of Johnny’s stories.
Please consider a story about our favorite story teller of yore: Johnny Caesar Cicero Darling.
Leni,
Congratulations! All of us at Mountainkeeper are thrilled that you have launched this great venture and we will be sure to keep you updated on the things we are doing and will add your link to our sites including the Catskill Post http://www.catskillpost.com and the Catskill Trailkeeper http://www.trailkeeper.org
Carol and Leni, this has turned into a great resource, and a very lovely place to visit. Thanks to you for taking the initiative and for maintaining it. Makes me long to live again in the Catskills. Some time soon I’d like to try to get together (either face to face or electronically) to see what I can do to make something like this happen down here at Havre de Grace.
Carol & Leni–
This is soooooo wonderful.
It has a great sense of community and interest in everything. Even the photos are wonderful.
And it is fun, too.
Thanks for doing it.
Barry
All my best wishes to you and Carol and of course, Mort and whoever else I may not know about.
I will look forward to reading as regularly as possible.
Fran
Leni-

Best of luck.
Kathy
A phoenix arises from the ashes! What a great and fitting course of action! May it thrive!
Great start to something new, Leni. Good luck!
Dear Leni,
How exciting, clever and courageous of you to do this! I think it is wonderful and I wish you every success!
Sincerely,
Melissa
Suggest adding “imagination” to facts and photos. Perhaps a poetry column, and of course satire a la Mark Twain.
Peace & parody,
Mort
