Fallsburg Central School District Seeking Nominations for Hall of Fame

FALLSBURG, NY (October 12, 2015) — The Fallsburg Central School District (FCSD) Hall of Fame was organized as a means of recognizing, preserving and promoting the heritage of the Fallsburg school community. The Hall of Fame honors the contributions and accomplishments of individuals who are worthy of district-wide starsrecognition.

The FCSD is currently seeking nominations for the next round of honors. Nomination forms are due in the Superintendent’s Office by February 12, 2016.

To date five people grace the Hall of Fame in a display case in the Fallsburg High School Lobby: Jack Leshner, Joe LaRuffa, Martin Van Vleet, Gavin DeGraw and Mel Mednick.

If you would like to nominate someone to join this special group, the nomination form is on the FCSD web site www.fallsburgcsd.net or you may obtain one from the Superintendent’s Office at the High School Central Office at 115 Brickman Road, Fallsburg.

The categories of student, staff, administrator and community member are included on the nomination form for expediency in understanding the primary area in which an individual is to be considered for his or her achievements. The group identification is for screening purposes only and to assist those making the nominations to understand the type of information required. Once nominees are inducted, they are not categorized, but are all recognized members of the Fallsburg Central School District Hall of Fame.

All candidates will be judged on their significant and/or long term contributions in their lifelong pursuits. These pursuits include but are not limited to: fields of study, careers, athletics, service to community (at local, state and national levels), professions, academic accomplishments, and others. While many have served their communities over a long and distinguished career, their accomplishments must be worthy of prominent recognition for Hall of Fame consideration.

Nominees for the Fallsburg Central School District Hall of Fame will either be approved and recognized as a Hall of Fame Inductee or will be placed in the Holding for Future Consideration Category by the Fallsburg Central School District Selection Committee. This Selection Committee is made up of: 2 students, 2 staff members, 2 administrators, 2 community members and 2 members of the Board of Education. The Superintendent serves as the Selection Committee Chair.

If you have questions about the process, please contact the Superintendent’s Office at (845) 434-6800, ext. 1215 or by email ikatz@fallsburgcsd.net.
