MONTICELLO, NY (March 16, 2015) – Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library is looking for input and ideas regarding the layout of the outdoor space at the new library on Broadway, which is currently under construction. A design workshop, which will involve working hands-on in small groups to propose designs for the space, will be held Saturday, March 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Ted Stroebele Community Center on Jefferson Street in Monticello.
Over two dozen local residents and library patrons attended the first design workshop in Monticello in February.
“Due to the rising costs associated with the building construction project, much of the proposed landscaping at the new library had to be scaled back considerably,” said Library Director Mary Paige Lang-Clouse. “We have a $10,000 funding commitment from Sullivan Renaissance, and essentially a blank slate to imagine the outdoor space in new ways. There is great potential to use the outdoor space not only for library programming, but as a vehicle to integrate the library into the community.”
No design experience is necessary and the public is encouraged to attend the March 21st workshop. Support and assistance will be provided by staff from Sullivan Renaissance and the Sullivan County Division of Planning. Light refreshments will be provided.
