LIBERTY, NY (November 25, 2013) – On November 6, the Pre-Tech Class at the Career & Technical Education Center at Sullivan BOCES presented the Community Garden Club of Liberty with four picnic tables to be used at Catskill Regional Medical Center’s Woodland Wildlings Garden.
The picnic tables are handicapped accessible and will be used with the garden’s existing memorial benches. The garden, as a whole, is made up of memorial plants, trees, and tables that have been donated over the years. The Community Garden Club of Liberty and the Roscoe-Rockland Garden Club maintain the Woodland Wildlings Garden.
“This is totally a win-win situation. We love the tables,” said Christy Kuriger, President of the Community Garden Club of Liberty. “Having the students work with the hospital is a great match – we look forward to working with the students in the future,” added Kuriger.
Catskill Regional’s CEO & CMO Dr. Gerard Galarneau also attended the presentation. “It is wonderful to have energized young people in support of the hospital. We are very happy with the tables and look forward to future projects,” said Dr. Galarneau.
According to the students, this was a great project that they had a lot of fun doing. “It was nice to create something that people will be able to enjoy,” said Brandi Fornasari, Liberty 10th grade student.
