SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY (September 20, 2015) – It might seem a little early to be thinking of spring, but autumn is the best time to prepare for next year’s garden. And now is the perfect time to plant deer resistant bulbs that will create colorful gardens soon after the snow disappears.
Join Sullivan Renaissance and the Sullivan County Master Gardeners at a “Fall Gardening Seminar” from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7 at the Gerald J. Skoda Extension Education Center on Ferndale Loomis Road in Liberty. Sullivan Renaissance is holding this free class in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County (CCE).
Completing a series of fall chores will give every gardener a head start on the spring season. Among the topics that CCE Master Gardeners will cover during this hands-on demonstration are the following:
• How to put a garden to bed for the winter
• What kinds of bulbs can be planted now
• How to plant spring bulbs
• Where should all those leaves go
Information will also be presented about how to become involved in community gardening projects through “Early Admission” to the 2016 Sullivan Renaissance Grant Program.
Space is limited and pre-registration is requested. Refreshments will be provided.
