Twice Divorced – By Grayce Goin
Dear Twice Divorced,
I live on a block where all the neighbors have landscapers that come on a regular basis to mow and do other manicuring jobs. We just don’t have the extra cash, and prefer to tend our lawn and garden on our own. But our house just looks like the evil child of the block.
Should we try to keep up with the Jones’ or just let things be? (We have to live with gas fumes and ear splitting noise when they come and do the whole lot of houses on one afternoon. Not so pleasant. But what are you gonna do?)
Worried neighbor
Dear Worried,
Keep up with the Jones’? In this economy? Absolutely not! As long as you mow often enough to keep the lawn looking decent and take care of the necessary trimming there is no reason in the world why you should have to do more. If this does not satisfy all the Jones’ on your block, then they can chip in and pay to include your property on landscaper day.
We have all had to make sacrifices to survive the current economic environment – with some rather painful trade-offs – and I just can’t see paying for a landscaper as being at the top of the average person’s “keep” list.
So, enjoy the coming months without having to mow, then tend to your lawn as necessary, and,
Be well
