Twice Divorced – By Grayce Goin
Dear Twice Divorced,
Is it true that Epsom salts are good for your plants, house, outside, any plants, even better than prepackaged plant growth products? If so, how does one use it?
Stymied in Suffolk
Dear Stymied,
When I read your question, my first thought was along the lines of: of course it will help, replenishing the soil with mineral compounds would almost have to. But I was surprised by the number of ways Epsom salts can be used besides soaking sore feet or drawing out infections.
There is an “Epsom Salt Council” where you will find a wealth of information on how and where to use this product on both indoor and outdoor plants, you will also find unexpected health and beauty uses for this household staple.
The Epsom Salt Council also has a page on Facebook where you can exchange information with other “fans” of the product.
Enjoy, and Be well
Dear Twice Divorced,
My question is: how do the major league baseball teams end up with game results such as “the Yankees are 2 1/2 games over Boston,” as was the result recently in the Record. How does it come out 2 1/2 when they play full games?
Flower from Pine Bush
Dear Flower,
Since this subject is outside my area, I consulted with a lifelong baseball fanatic and this is what I think he said: The standings work down from the top team in a given division and every time a team wins a game they move up 1/2 game, and, if they lose, they move down 1/2 game whether the top team has played or not.
Now, if the lead team plays and wins and another team loses, then the losing team drops back a whole game. Conversely, if the lead team loses and another team wins they move up a full game.
How about it baseball fans, am I in the right ball park?
Be well

Hey Grace, this is Carol’s siser whose Dad taught me about baseball when I was knee high to a frog. Your answer was perfect, right on.
TY for the answer about the Epsom salt and the link. Have a Blessed night.
